There are many different species of Dock present in Australia.
Depending on the species, they can either be a perennial or annual plant. Generally docks have a thick taproot, a basal rosette of leaves during the winter and erect branching stems which develop and flower in the spring.
The leaves
are hairless with short stalks and can either be narrow or wide depending on
the species of Dock.
