Weed library - Dandelion / Catsear / Flatweed ( Hypochaeris radicata)


Dandelion / Catsear is an autumn germinating perennial herb.

Also referred to as flat weed, in the rosette form it produces deeply lobed leaves with stiff hairs on the upper surface and sparse hairs on the lower surface.  

As it matures it produces branched, hairless stems up to 30cm tall with yellow flowers.

Control Tips


  • Spray when the plant is actively growing
  • Plants in the rosette stage are easier to control than mature plants

  • DO NOT spray when the plant is stressed (i.e. Drought, physical damage, insect damage, frost)
