Weed library - Bridal Creeper (Asparagus asparagoides)


Is a highly invasive weed smothering out native vegetation and pastures.

It produces glossy green leaves on twisting stems that can grow up to 3m long.

Established plants form thick underground tubers which make it difficult to control.

Control Tips

Renovate Broadleaf and Woody Weed Herbicide is registered to control Bridal Creeper

 When using Renovate to control Bridal Creeper:

  • If hand spraying, thoroughly wet all the foliage but not to cause run off.
  • Spray young, actively growing plants.
  • Use a high quality non ionic wetting agent like Weed Forces Holdfast for best results helping to improve wetting and herbicide penetration of the plant foliage
  • Apply mid June to Late August
  • To achieve complete control, follow up applications over at least two seasons are required.

  • DO NOT spray when the plant is stressed (i.e. Drought, physical damage, insect damage etc)
