Weed library - Ryegrass - Annual (Lolium rigidum)


Annual ryegrass is an autumn-winter germinating annual grass that is highly competitive.

Annual ryegrass produces hairless, bright green narrow leaves and its stems can grow to around 1m in height in the spring.

BE AWARE there are populations of annual ryegrass which are resistant to herbicides and resistant populations. These populations may not be controlled when treated with particular herbicides.

  • DO NOT spray when the plant is stressed (i.e. Drought, physical damage, insect damage etc)
